OVER 9,000 RUNNERS READY TO RACE AT THE CAN THO MARATHON HERITAGE RACE 2024!

Get ready for the highly anticipated Can Tho Marathon Heritage Race 2024, taking place on December 22, 2024, in the vibrant heart of Can Tho City! With over 9,000 runners competing across four race categories—5km, 10km, Half Marathon (21.1km), and Full Marathon (42.195km)—this event is more than a competition. It’s a cultural celebration, aiming to put Can Tho on the international marathon map while boosting sustainable tourism in the region.

An Unforgettable Running Experience

The course is a runner’s dream, blending physical challenge with an extraordinary cultural journey.

This year introduces a highlight: Binh Thuy District joins the route for the first time. Runners will traverse scenic canal-side roads, free from traffic interruptions, while passing ancient pagodas and historic temples. The route also includes the iconic Lộ Vòng Cung, once known as the "Fiery Belt" during the resistance era and now a national historic site. This stretch showcases both the enduring spirit of the southwestern people and Can Tho’s rapid modern development.

Other route landmarks include the Trúc Lâm Phương Nam Zen Monastery, the lush Mỹ Khánh Fruit Garden, and the world-renowned Cái Răng Floating Market, giving runners a true taste of the Mekong Delta’s heritage.

The Event Hub

The race starts and finishes at Song Hau Park, located in Cái Khế Ward, Ninh Kieu District. Known for hosting lively festivals and community activities, the park provides the perfect venue to highlight Can Tho’s vibrant energy. Along the route, runners will find hydration stations, medical checkpoints, mobile restrooms, and enthusiastic volunteers ensuring a seamless and enjoyable race day.

International Standards Certified

For the first time, the Can Tho Heritage Marathon has earned official certification from the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS), making it the first marathon in Can Tho with a route meeting global standards. This certification not only assures a top-tier experience but also allows runners to use their race results to qualify for the Abbott World Marathon Majors Age Group World Championship—part of the prestigious Six Majors series, which includes the New York, Chicago, London, Boston, Tokyo, and Berlin Marathons.

Cultural Pride Through Design

This year, racewear reflects the cultural essence of Can Tho, inspired by the iconic rice plant, a symbol of the Mekong Delta’s identity:

  • The event shirt features a soothing green, representing the lush rice fields of the region.
  • The finisher shirts for Half and Full Marathon runners boast bold red, symbolizing determination and pride in conquering the race.
